Google Checkout
Hello
This article is to help readers get a good picture of Google Checkout and use it as an alternative for merchant processing for their online shops, and so on. Hope everyone enjoys this article! Google Checkout
Google checkout is basically a third party merchant account provider like others paypal, 2checkout an online payment processing service, its not a payment gateways or MSP. To get Google checkout merchant account you must have a US address with a US Bank account in addition to a social security number and a Credit card or Federal Tax ID/ EIN, currently a non-US based merchant can not use their service. Looking more on this checkout system- there is no monthly setup or gateway fees are currently being charged from Google checkout merchants, they charge with a standard charge of 2.0% of the sales amount plus $ 0.20 per transaction. However there are few disadvantages of this payment system, as Google Checkout merchants can sell only tangible goods not any intangible products/services if they are not certified as a 501c3 tax-exempt organization, and the payments are billed only in US dollar not any other currency currently.
Google checkout has proprietary built Fraud Screening and detection system that protect their merchant from chargebacks, however if a chargeback is reasonable the merchant has to refund full amount with $10. However it is good that if you are Google Adword advertiser you can get some of the benefit by using their payment system such as for every $1 spent on Adword each month they will be able to process $10 in sales the subsequent month for free. Most current news referred to google official blog, they have launched a new referral channel for their Google AdSense publishers that will allow their publishers to refer buyers to Google Checkout and earn revenue”.
For integration you can integrate Google checkout through Buy Now buttons, Off-the-shelf shopping cart or through their Custom-built shopping cart all these integration need some technical knowledge. During launching of Google checkout it was rumored that it is an alternate option of paypal, but this is not a fact, Google checkout has to go long way to compete with paypal.
Google Checkout is also compatible with eWebGuru and can be integrated easily into many popular shopping cart systems from OsCommerce to CubeCart.
Thanks.
